Most Common Restaurants Receipts in UK

UK Restaurant Receipts

Now that we support the UK, we decided to compile a list of the most common restaurants and cafes in the UK (Scotland, England, Wales) that provide receipts.  A customer at these establishments often requests a receipt to track expenses and utilize for business expense report purposes.  Receipts provided by these companies will typically have business name, business address, city, region/state, phone number, cost, tax and other details.  In the UK, the cost is expressed in British Pounds (symbol: £; ISO code: GBP) – also known as Sterling.

Gas receipts available now

sample-gas-receipt-smaller2

Gas, petro, fuel, go-go juice…. whatever you call it, we have you covered on receipt creation.  We just added two new receipt templates: Gas Receipt and Modern Gas Receipt. Each feature the ability to enter the number of gallons of gas and then the cost of gas per gallon. The Gas Receipt style has a “dot matrix” font and is easy to read.  The Modern Gas Receipt utilizes a newer style font and is cleaner and easier to read.

Remember, not all states in the USA tax for gasoline purchases. GasBuddy provides a good chart of those states that chart tax on gasoline. If your state doesn’t have sales tax on gasoline, simply enter ” 0 ” into the Tax field. Tax is a percentage and is multiplied by the cost of gas. For example, enter 5.0 to get 5% tax on $50 of gas. The system will calculate and show $2.50 in tax on the receipt

The request for a gas receipt was based on a suggestion by an ExpressExpress member.  Do you have an idea for another receipt type or any other site improvement you would like to share?  Send us a Comment through our site! We look forward to hearing from you.

Faster, Better, Stronger

Work it, make it, do it, makes us
Harder, better, faster, stronger
We’ve spent 4 weeks getting our server migrated from a pokey GoDaddy Shared account to a lighting-fast Linode VPS system.   You can read more about Linode vs GoDaddy here: For the Love of Linode.
Why did we change?  More reasons than we first thought!  We initially needed emails to be sent instantly – instead of in batches every 5, 10 or 20 minutes like GoDaddy likes to do.  We also were tired of outages on GoDaddy that seemed to be happening once or twice a week for anywhere from 2 – 30 minutes.  We noticed through our Pingdom account that these were occurring and then tried to request support from GoDaddy.  GoDaddy’s response was, “this is a shared hosting solution and we have an issue that we’re going to resolve.”  I requested to move off of that particular server and was told that it is not possible.  Goodbye GoDaddy…Hello Linode.
More than, hour, our, never
Ever, after, work is, over
As it turns out, there were probably a few solutions to solve our email problem – the easiest one being to utilize Google Apps for email and then connect to their SMTP server for outgoing mail.
The more difficult one is to establish your own mail server using Postfix, Dovecot and MySQL.  This works fine – except there are all sorts of challenges in getting your mail server to properly send mail and NOT be considered SPAM by other mail servers.  You also need to maintain your own SPAM filters and then run another web system on your VPS to actually display email (Squirrel, CubeMail or others).  This was turning out to be a major science project – and all we wanted to do was send (and receive email).  No thanks… Google Apps is $50 a year and solves all of these problems.
Work it, make it, do it, makes us
Harder, better, faster, stronger
Once we made the transition to Linode, we also decided to clean up some other things.  We improved the user feedback system by implementing UserVoice.  This gives us the ability to quickly respond to user comments/questions quickly and documents the workflow for us.  We’ve built templates within UserVoice to allow instant responses to common issues.  These common issues can also be published as Knowledge Base articles and made available to users on our site.  Try it for yourself and see the improvement.  Our OLD comment form is here.  And the new one can be seen in action on the site.
Work it harder
Make it better
Do it faster

We’ve improved our receipt generator interface and made it easier for you to create custom receipts.   You should notice immediately that the site has a new look and feel. Here are some of the other improvements.

  • Easier to select the receipt template and enter the fields needed to generate the receipt
  • Receipt data is saved during your session to allow you to easier change template and retain your receipt information
  • Paypal payment integration has been added to single receipt and membership payment
  • Bitcoin payment integration has been added to single receipt and membership payment
  • Ability to change password
  • Receipts are now attached to the email instead of linked in-line
  • The site is MUCH faster.  We’ve reduced the CSS, Javascript and image sizes in order to greatly speed page load.  We went from 3.5 seconds to 1 second page load time on the landing page!

New design coming soon…

We’re in the midst of a full site redesign guaranteed to make it easier to create receipts quickly and easily.  We actually crowdsourced the design from 99Designs.com and had an excellent experience throughout the process.  We had 32 designs submitted and we narrowed the field down to 6 finalists.  We liked the simplicity of this designer’s design and the 1-2-3 flow he incorporated into the receipt making process.  Take a look and let us know what you think!
